Annotation
The article deals with the actual problem of the ratio of innovation and tradition in the training of college students in the specialty 54.02.02 «Decorative and applied arts and crafts». The author emphasizes the need to update the theoretical foundations of the training of future specialists-artists in the field of various types of traditional crafts on the basis of fundamental methodologies of art criticism. The concretization of the problem is interpolated on the experience of a long history of the correlation of folk foundations and the influence of current stylistic trends in the formation of Zhostovsky craft. The purpose of the article is to actualize the search for new approaches to solving one of the most difficult tasks in the field of training specialists in traditional arts and crafts — combining loyalty to the traditional canons of folk art and updating them in the light of new historical realities. Methodology and methods. The formation of the analytical apparatus of our research is based on a holistic approach, including the use of art criticism methods of structural-semantic, comparative-historical, iconographic and artistic-stylistic analysis. The method of structural and semantic analysis is aimed at identifying the basic structures in the imagery of traditional artistic crafts at the level of archetypes. The comparative-historical method
of analysis helps to understand common and special features in the history of the development of crafts, compare the changes that have occurred in them. The iconographic method of analysis is necessary for the definition and identification of typical plots, plastic and compositional formulas, their interpretation in the dynamics of development. The artistic and stylistic method of analysis makes it possible to determine the system of expressive means of a particular style, which masters of craft interact with. The main results. It is revealed that the key to the success of the synthesis of tradition and innovation in the practice of traditional crafts is the coincidence of the archetypal imagery of the national artistic tradition and contextual historical style models. The archetype of the mother goddess (in the domestic version of the mother of the raw earth) is singled out as a common archetypal base. The substantial and stylistic connection of the imagery of Zhostov trays with the imagery of such stylistic trends as baroque Dutch still life, rococo, classicism, Russian Cezannism is substantiated. The scientific novelty of our research consists in: shifting the emphasis from the simple opposition «tradition – innovation» to the identification of success indicators, both in the original tradition and in contact with innovative trends; in confirming the hypothesis about the role of the archetype of the mother of the raw earth, basic for the Russian cultural tradition, in the process of periodic renewal of traditional crafts; in the discovery of the provision on the resonance effect beneficial for the renewal and development of traditional crafts, which is achieved when the traditional imagery of the archetype of the mother of the raw earth intersects with the deep structures of the female archetype in stylistic models that have an innovative
character; in identifying the connection of Zhostovsky writing with rococo femininity, with the imagery of the perception of Paradise in classicism, the substance of Dutch still life and Russian Cezannism in the works of P. P. Konchalovsky. The practical significance lies in the fact that the article offers a working scheme for analyzing the identification of archetypal features in the opposition «of folk tradition – innovation of style formation», which includes such concepts as understanding matter, its mass
and substance, form, the ratio of form and decor, the selection of images. The presented work can be used in the preparation of artists and designers to work in the field of traditional crafts at the level of secondary vocational education. The historical experience of Zhostov’s masters described in the article can be used by modern masters in determining the degree of innovation in the traditions of crafts.
