Annotation

The article discusses the state of vocational training and employment of persons with intellectual disabilities, reveals current trends in their vocational training, including: the expansion of the range of professions being mastered, including for persons with severe intellectual disabilities, an increase in the number of young people with mental retardation continuing their studies at colleges, the emergence of new forms of vocational guidance and employment. Professional skill contests are considered in the article as a tool for improving professional skills and successful employment of persons with disabilities, attracting the attention of employers to the professional opportunities of students with disabilities, including persons with intellectual disabilities. The purpose of the article: to consider the effectiveness of modern tools for the employment of college graduates with intellectual disabilities, in particular, by the example of the Abilimpics Professional Skills Championship. Methodology and methods. The methodological basis of this article is a systematic approach, since career guidance, vocational training and employment of persons with intellectual disabilities are interrelated, the tasks they solve are closely intertwined. As a method, we used a questionnaire of the administration and responsible employees for career guidance and employment at ten colleges in Moscow, where people with disabilities, including young people with intellectual disabilities, study. The main results of the study. The article analyzes the frequency of professions that students with intellectual disabilities receive in colleges, the competencies in which they participate in the Abilimpics, the duration of their participation in the competition. A comparative analysis of the number of participants and winners of the Abilimpics among students with disabilities with intellectual disabilities and without intellectual disabilities was carried out. The proposals of employers’ jobs for people with intellectual disabilities were studied and a comparative analysis of the number of people employed in these places with the number of winners with intellectual disabilities was carried out. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time the results of the professional competition Abilimpics were analyzed in terms of its effectiveness for participants with intellectual disabilities; insufficient number of persons with intellectual disabilities who participated in the competition, unequal conditions of participation, insufficient number of proposals from employers for the winners of the competition, etc. were revealed. Practical significance. The conducted research allowed the authors to make proposals to improve the effectiveness of career guidance and employment of college graduates with intellectual disabilities.
